The crash site of an Air Services Guyana Limited aircraft has been located in the dense forests of Region Eight, with no signs of life reported, as search and recovery operations continue.
The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) said the aircraft, a Cessna 208 bearing registration 8R-YAC, was operating on the Madhia–Imbaimadai route when contact was lost shortly after departure.
The plane departed Madhia at 08:10h with one person on board and was expected to arrive at 08:40h but failed to report arrival, prompting a flight progress check minutes later. Authorities said weather conditions in the area included heavy rainfall and reduced visibility.
Search efforts led to a visual sighting of a suspected crash site, later confirmed by two Trans Guyana Airways Cessna Caravans and a Britten-Norman Islander.
The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) has since dispatched a rescue team, including special forces and medical personnel, to the area and is leading recovery operations.
Private Sector Commission Chairman and pilot Gerry Gouveia Jr. said he was encouraged by the swift response, particularly the rapid mobilisation of the GDF.
Authorities said the situation remains active and that further details will be provided following on-site verification.
