Courts Guyana, through its parent company Unicomer Guyana, has expanded its national footprint with the opening of a new branch in Vreed-en-Hoop, Region Three, bringing a full range of retail services closer to communities along the West Coast Demerara.
The new location comes amid growing economic activity and residential expansion in the region, positioning the company to better serve a customer base that is increasingly shifting beyond Georgetown.
The investment also builds on Unicomer’s longstanding presence in the area, where it previously operated a Lucky Dollar outlet. The transition to a full Courts branch introduces a wider product selection and a more comprehensive in-store experience.
Delivering the feature address at the opening, Tourism, Industry and Commerce Minister Susan Rodrigues described the development as a significant contribution to balanced national growth.
She noted that the expansion goes beyond retail, improving access to goods and services as communities along the West Coast continue to develop.
With a global legacy spanning over a century and a strong Caribbean presence, Courts has positioned itself as a key provider of household goods, focusing on accessibility and affordability.
Managing Director of Unicomer Guyana, Gillian Matthews, said the investment reflects changing community needs, noting that customers have been demanding greater variety, improved quality, and a more complete shopping experience.
She added that the company’s approach extends beyond retail, aiming to support long-term improvements in quality of life.
The new Vreed-en-Hoop branch features an expanded range of furniture, appliances and electronics, along with integrated optical services, offering a more holistic retail experience.
Director of Sales Katty-Ann Lewis said the expansion is rooted in strengthening community ties, emphasising that the company aims to grow alongside the communities it serves.
