Berbice mother manually strangled seven-year-old daughter

Isabella Dabadial

A post-mortem examination has confirmed that seven-year-old Isabella Dabadial, whose death is being investigated as a suspected murder, died as a result of manual strangulation.

The examination was conducted on Tuesday between 15:10 hrs and 15:47 hrs at Bailey’s Funeral Home, located in Number Four Village, West Coast Berbice.

The procedure, which included a full dissection, was carried out by Government Pathologist Dr Brijmohan.
Isabella Dabadial, a pupil of Cropper Primary School, resided at Lot 2V Fyrish Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

She was identified by her grandmother, Lalita Brijlall, a 59-year-old housewife of Lot 56 West Canefield, East Canje, Berbice. The identification process was witnessed by members of the police.

Following the examination, the official cause of death was determined to be manual strangulation.
After the completion of the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family for burial.

Meanwhile, Ignite News had reported that Isabella Dabadial was allegedly suffocated by her mother, Sarah Elizabeth Shivpersaud, 26, a ten-day worker from the area. Her younger brother, Ethan Dabadial, aged one year and nine months, survived the attack.

Initial reports indicate that Shivpersaud had been experiencing personal difficulties, including her husband leaving the home several days earlier.

She reportedly told authorities that she had nothing to eat that morning, which she said contributed to her actions—allegedly killing her daughter and attempting to take her son’s life.

After the incident, Shivpersaud reportedly attempted to harm herself but was treated and remains in a stable condition under police supervision at the Port Mourant Public Hospital.
