President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali on Monday pitched Guyana as a key investment destination with strong geographic and market advantages during a phone call with Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Ali said Guyana was well positioned for expanded partnerships in sectors such as energy, food security and technology, while also noting the impact of ongoing conflict on infrastructure and economic activity in the region.
He expressed solidarity with Qatar and condemned attacks on the Gulf state and other members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), reaffirming Guyana’s support.
The two leaders discussed long-term cooperation, including investment and development initiatives aimed at strengthening economic ties.
Sheikh Tamim thanked Ali and the people of Guyana for their support and said Qatar was interested in broadening collaboration in investment, human capital development, technology and infrastructure.
