Residents of Lethem now have access to a wider range of locally manufactured products with the opening of a new retail outlet by Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) and DSL Cash and Carry on Monday.
The new facility, located in the community’s commercial zone, is expected to expand access to locally manufactured products while supporting the growing economic activity in the border town.
Retail Supervisor of the DSL Cash and Carry outlet, Shirlain George, said the response from residents has been encouraging since the launch, noting that the store aims to provide a convenient space where consumers can access a range of products produced and distributed by the company.
“We found that the community is giving us positive feedback so far, and we are here to serve the community and help in the development of the community also,” George explained.
The outlet will feature a wide selection of beverages and food items manufactured and bottled locally by the company, allowing residents easier access to popular Guyanese brands.
George noted that the opening also provides an opportunity for residents to become more familiar with the company’s product line and the services it provides across the country.
“We are just proud that we are here to serve the local community and to make people more aware of our products that we have here – we manufacture and the products that we distribute,” she said.
Among the products available at the DDL location are Soca, Slice, Topco and Savannah Milk, along with other items distributed through the company’s network.
“We are proud to actually bring Guyanese products or service to the community,” George said.
The new store adds to Lethem’s expanding commercial sector as the town continues to experience increased business activity and population growth.
