Guyana’s 24-member team for the 2026 CARIFTA Games is prepared and aiming for top performances when the championships begin in Grenada over the Easter weekend, team manager Niall Stanton said.
Stanton told Ignite News the athletes are in good condition and eager to compete.
“From a managerial point, I think the athletes are ready. We’re prepared; it’s just for us to go out and do what we have to do,” he said.
He added that expectations are high, with the team targeting gold medals.
“The expectations are high. The athletes want to come back with medals, not just any colour, but gold medals. I think that because of everything that was done and everything that was put in place, this team is going to be successful in Grenada,” Stanton said.
Stanton said preparations have been progressing steadily ahead of the championships. The team is scheduled to hold a final training camp for local athletes from Friday to Sunday, including a mini-competition on Saturday from 1000 to 1500 local time to maintain sharpness.
He invited the public to attend the event and support the athletes.
The CARIFTA Games will be held in Grenada over the Easter weekend, with Guyana fielding a 24-member team.
