The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) has announced that President Irfaan Ali will officially open the 2026 OTC in Houston, Texas.
President Ali will deliver the opening address at the ceremony on May 4, 2026, marking the start of the world’s largest offshore energy technology event.
The president will be accompanied by a delegation, including Natural Resources Minister Vickram Bharrat.
The OTC Board of Directors anticipates a productive visit, highlighting the growing partnership between Guyana and the global offshore energy community.
“Ali’s participation underscores the geopolitical importance of offshore energy and its global significance,” said Amanda Rushing, Executive Director of OTC. “We are honoured to offer a platform where government leaders and industry professionals can engage, and we look forward to Ali’s address setting the tone for the event,” she added.
OTC 2026, scheduled for May 4–7 at NRG Park in Houston, will attract tens of thousands of energy professionals from over 100 countries to exchange knowledge and showcase innovations in offshore energy.
“Ali’s acceptance of our invitation is a tremendous honour. Guyana has become a key offshore energy producer and a prominent voice in the global energy sector. We are excited to welcome Ali and his delegation to Houston to explore the technologies shaping the future of offshore energy,” said Dan McConnell, Chairman of the OTC Board of Directors.
Guyana’s rise as a major offshore energy player has driven multibillion-dollar investments, accelerated infrastructure development, and fostered deeper collaboration with international energy firms. The country’s participation in OTC 2026 highlights its growing influence in the global energy landscape and reinforces OTC’s role as a neutral platform for international dialogue.
