MODEC Tertiary School Football Tournament off to strong start

The inaugural MODEC Tertiary School Football Tournament has produced exciting matches in its first week, winning praise from organisers who believe the competition could become a key event in the school football calendar.

Troy Mendonca, co-director of the Petra Organisation, which is managing the tournament, said some teams were less prepared than others but performed admirably, reflecting positively on the overall standard of play. “Based on feedback from participants, this tournament is going to be one to reckon with in the future,” he said in an exclusive interview with Ignite News.

Mendonca added that a few adjustments would be made to ensure the tournament becomes a regular fixture in Guyana’s tertiary school football schedule. “There are things and changes we would want to make going forward. This tournament is going to be a hit and one to look forward to,” he said.
Matches in the tournament continue this weekend at grounds across Guyana.
