A section of the gathering at the launch today

The first 27 beneficiaries of the Hyde Park (Yarrowkabra) Homestead Project received allocations for their new homes on Thursday, marking a major milestone for the housing initiative.
All recipients were women, highlighting a focus on empowering female-headed households through access to safe and affordable housing. Financial institutions on site provided on-the-spot mortgage approvals, enabling the beneficiaries to move quickly toward homeownership.
Dozens of additional applicants received pre-qualification letters to pursue financing with institutions of their choice, as the Ministry of Housing continues allocations from its Brickdam headquarters.
The project, developed in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Duravilla Homes, includes homes designed for sustainable living, featuring shade houses to support food security and income generation. President Dr. Irfaan Ali conceptualised the initiative as part of a broader government strategy to promote inclusive and resilient communities.
