New dawn at Bamia Primary School

Parents of students attending the newly-constructed Bamia Primary School at Amelia’s Ward, Linden, say they are elated about their children’s transition into the modern facility.
Students officially moved into the school recently, coinciding with the start of the new academic term, and the response from parents has been overwhelmingly positive. Many praised the upgrade, highlighting the challenges their children faced in the former building, which had become overcrowded.
Marcia Winter, who has two children attending the school, expressed her gratitude for the additional space.
“It’s more comfortable for them. First, where they went it was cluster up. Now, it much better for them,” she shared.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Rebecka Winter, another parent with two children at the school.

“I’ve been getting complaints with my big daughter because she used to be choked up. Well now they get a real relief. They been learning much more, they get comfortable space. My lil son, he’s been enjoying it. Some days he does cry to go to school. They used to be sitting two in a seat, now they get their own space,” she related.
Verita John added that the environment at the new school is far more conducive to learning.
“I feel happy because they used to sit down three in a bench. So, we feel so happy,” she said.

Orleita John, a parent of three children and former PTA President at Bamia Primary, recalled the struggles with limited accommodation in the past.
“I feel happy too as other parents, because we had it tough. As a former PTA President at the Bamia Primary School we know the struggle we went through. We was at the Multi-purpose building at Bamia, then moved to Bamia Nursery, then both of the accommodation was limited. The space, you know, the children complain,” she shared.
The new building is designed as a modern, child-friendly institution, featuring spacious classrooms, a cafeteria, auditorium, administrative offices for the headteacher, deputy headteacher, and secretary, as well as a music room, library, and reading room.
Additional facilities include a staff lounge, sick bay, storeroom, special needs room, gymnasium, male and female changing rooms, a smart classroom, and two information technology laboratories. The school also now accommodates learners with special educational needs and disabilities, and students from the Wismar Hill Primary Visually Impaired Unit who live closer to Bamia can enrol there.
Parents whose children currently attend Amelia’s Ward Primary School but live nearer to Bamia now also have the option of enrolling at the new facility, giving families greater choice and students a more comfortable, supportive learning environment.
