
A 13-year-old male was shot in the gluteal area during an alleged attempted robbery in front of Brickdam Cathedral, Georgetown, on Wednesday, police said.
The incident occurred around 10:15 hrs and involved an 81-year-old pensioner and his 79-year-old brother.
Preliminary investigations indicate that one of two males, armed with a knife, attempted to snatch a haversack from the elderly man.
Members of the public intervened after the victim raised the alarm, prompting a 25-year-old licensed firearm holder in the vicinity to discharge his weapon in the direction of the suspects.
One suspect was struck and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, while the second suspect escaped.
CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed, and the firearm involved has been secured pending investigation. Police continue to investigate the attempted Robbery Under Arms.
