Guyana’s horse-racing industry has galloped into the history books! This week, three of the nation’s elite jockeys took a monumental step towards securing their international jockey licences in Barbados, setting the stage for Guyanese riders to shine on the global stage.
Leading this exhilarating charge is none other than the 2025 Champion Jockey, Yovin Kissoonchand, flanked by former champions Colin Ross and Ronaldo Appadu.
These talented riders have successfully passed their physical riding examinations in Barbados, a crucial hurdle in the quest for international recognition.
The licensing journey is being expertly managed by the esteemed racing administrator Victor Cheeseman, with the legendary horseman Robert Malcolm Pierce playing a vital role in mentoring and advancing this groundbreaking initiative.
