Charity Hospital has taken a major step forward in improving healthcare delivery with the commissioning of a new digital X-ray machine on Tuesday morning.
The machine was officially commissioned by Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, alongside the Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Madanlall Ramraj. The upgrade marks a significant boost to diagnostic services at the Charity facility, which serves thousands of residents from Region Two and surrounding riverain communities.
Dr Anthony noted that the introduction of digital imaging will allow for faster and more accurate diagnoses, improved patient care, and reduced waiting times. He emphasised that the investment aligns with the Government’s ongoing commitment to modernising the public healthcare system and ensuring equitable access to quality medical services across the country.
Minister Ramraj echoed these sentiments, highlighting that improved healthcare infrastructure is a critical component of national development. He stated that the new equipment will greatly benefit both patients and medical staff, enhancing efficiency and service delivery at the hospital.
Doctors at Charity Hospital welcomed the addition, noting that the digital X-ray machine will replace outdated technology and significantly improve workflow and patient outcomes.
The commissioning forms part of a broader national programme to equip regional and district hospitals with modern medical technology, ensuring that communities outside Georgetown receive timely and quality healthcare.
