A 50-year-old Georgetown woman was struck and killed on Thursday in a collision at the intersection of Aubrey Barker and Blue Mountain Roads, police in Regional Division 4A said.

Shondell Dundas of Festival City was on the pedestrian crossing around 12:00 hrs when she was hit by motor car PAJ 9875, driven by a 32-year-old salesman from Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt. The car was travelling east along Aubrey Barker Road at what police described as an alleged fast rate.

Dundas suffered head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home pending a post-mortem examination.

The driver recorded breathalyzer readings of 0.003 and 0.004 micrograms and has been taken into custody. The vehicle has been lodged at the station for examination.

Police said CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed as investigations continue.
