Police in Regional Division Three are investigating the death of a woman whose body was discovered on Sunday, November 16, 2025, along the Stewartville Seawall, West Coast Demerara — a case that has now been linked to a missing person report filed days later.
The investigation took a critical turn on Tuesday when relatives and friends reported that 38-year-old Chandini Persaud, known as “Savi,” of Anna Catherina, had not been seen since November 14. The report was made at the Leonora Police Station.
According to police, ranks had initially responded to a call earlier in the week after the body of an unidentified woman was found along the seawall. The scene was processed, and the remains were transported to the Ezekiel Funeral Home pending identification and a post-mortem examination.
The breakthrough came on Thursday, November 20, when a friend of Persaud visited the funeral home and positively identified the body through a tattoo, confirming long-held fears that the missing woman was the individual found days earlier.
Police say a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted soon as investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding Persaud’s death.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the probe continues.
